In 2016 a woman from Southeast Michigan came to us with designs for a product she had been working on for the past year. Her idea was to create a portable, organized, easy-to-use container so women can have their make-up on the go without worrying about eyeliner melting or powder breaking and getting everywhere. It was also very important to her that the product be eco-friendly and made in Michigan.

She calls the product the Make-Cup, and it’s something of a passion project for Christina Bellas. Over the years spent on the road travelling for her career, she noticed how much of a hassle keeping cosmetics organized and protected was. Aside from that, cosmetic waste accounts for a large portion of landfill waste. The Make-Cup is designed to offer a clean and organized way for women to carry their refillable cosmetics with them. This will make busy women’s lives easier and help the environment.

She showed us the design and what she needed from us, and we got right to work. The Make-Cup features a magnetic swiveling artist’s palette that holds most refillable cosmetic powders. The design needed a durable and flexible three-point swivel for the rotating shelves. We manufactured the swivel piece and it is now an integral part of the Make-Cup design.

In 2011, Kerr Screw Products was approached by a well-known manufacturer in the shock absorber industry. They came to us with a request for a quote for a large quantity of various hydraulic shock absorbers. They needed to have the highest quality custom materials for various weights, sizes and applications. Not only did they want the best materials, they also needed to keep costs as low as possible. Kerr was able to return a quote to them that satisfied the customer’s expectations for time, amount, quality, delivery and – maybe most important of all – cost.

Kerr got right to work. We were able to utilize all of our state-of-the-art equipment, such as our Miyano BNE 51s CNC Lathe. Our facilities allowed us to maximize production at a high efficiency. We were able to finish the contract ahead of schedule and delivery was made on time. We were able to cut costs on shipping and manufacturing and delivered for a lower amount than other quotes from other manufacturers. We have since maintained a friendly relationship and continue to do business together.

We had just completed several large runs for a loyal customer of ours, which were very lengthy processes, but we still managed to produce a fast turn-around time. He decided to send us a praise in an email, here’s what he said:

They just dazzle me all the time. Here is to another “atta boy” for Kerr. I am sure by now they have or should have a plaque on the wall with all the “atta boys” from Ace.
